15 Ways to Reuse Tea Bags

Nowadays, there are lots of items which can be used more than once, such as paper, glass, plastic – all of them could be recycled. That way you save money, time and protect the environment.
Teabags are one of those things to which you can give a second life – they are perfect not only for making a cup of tea. They have plenty of practical uses – check out our list of suggestions:
  1. Clean the mirrors and the windows at home – tea leftovers successfully remove stains from grease and dirt from the mirrors. What you need to do is boil two tea leftovers and use the potion to clean the mirror in the bathroom. When you are done, wipe the surface. You can apply the same cleaning method while sanitising your windows as well.
  2. Aromatise your clothes and shoes – sometimes the clothes in your closet may have an unpleasant smell. Instead of buying special detergents and air fresheners, put several dried tea leftovers in the wardrobe.
  3. You can do the same thing with stinky shoes as you leave the tea leftover directly in the shoes.
  4. Aromatise the cat litter – if you are a cat owner, then you should know that used tea leaves can help you deodorise the litter. Put the leftover in the litter and let them absorb the bad smell.
  5. Add some tea to the marinade – when you cook, in the previously prepared marinade for the meat, pour some tea to prevent the meat from becoming tough. In addition, you will add a unique taste of the meal.
  6. Remove the smell of onion, fish, etc. from your fingers – if you cook and touch any highly odourous foods such as onions, for example, and then your fingers smell, you can banish the smell with the help of the teabags. Dip your fingers in a decoction of tea and leave it for a few minutes, then wash your hands with soap.
  7. Prepare a homemade soap – if you know how to make homemade beauty products, then you should try adding tea to your next soap. In addition to the nice fragrance, tea will make your skin smoother.
  8. Soothe blisters and burns – tea baths or wet tea leftovers may be a replacement of the commercial cosmetic products for soothing sunburns. Fever blisters and canker sores heal fast if you cover them with some warm teabags. When it comes to razor burns, you can relieve them by applying wet tea leftovers directly on the skin.
  9. Clean the toilet – tea prepared from tea leftovers may help you in one of the hardest tasks in domestic cleaning: removing stains from the toilet. Pour the liquid in there and leave it for a few hours. Then all you have to do is rinse with water.
  10. Deal with oral health problems – tea is a great remedy against the most common oral health problems: bad breath and bleeding gums. If you have bleeding gums, then place a teabag in your mouth (it must be cooled) and leave it there for a couple of minutes. Tea should make the bleeding stop and removes your discomfort. For refreshing your breath, you can use peppermint tea. Menthol is a natural antiseptic so it will not only remove the bad smell but will relieve mild toothaches as well.
  11. Embellish your hair – if your hair is too dry, then freshly brewed and cooled tea can help you. It will hydrate your hair and condition the skin. Simply rinse your hair with some tea and leave it to dry. Brewed tea may make a great hair dye, especially if your hair is with a darker colour. Mix black tea with rosemary and apply it on your hair before going to bed. Let it act overnight and rinse it in the morning. Rosemary tea is also useful in covering gray hairs. Make the tea and leave it overnight. After that, use the tea as a conditioner after washing your hair with a shampoo. Be careful about your clothes because the tea may stain them.
  12. Fertilize your household plants – decoction of tea may be applied from time to time on your potted flowers may act as a fertilizer. That therapy is suitable for plants that ‘like’ a more acidic soil.
  13. Polish your furniture and floor – the high amounts of tannins found in tea are thought to enhance the shine and the colour of any wooden flooring. Apply some brewed tea on a cloth and start rubbing it against the floor. Then disinfect the surface normally and leave it to dry. When you are about to clean your wooden furniture, use a soft cloth dipped in black tea.
  14. Sanitise your carpets – tea leftovers may be useful even in carpet cleaning. Revive and freshen your rugs as you sprinkle the contents of the teabag all over them. Wait for around 10 minutes and then clean everything with a vacuum cleaner.
  15. Sooth your tired eyes – use tea leftovers to make a compress for tired eyes. The teabags just need to be dipped in warm water and then placed on your eyelids. Chamomile, lime, mint and garden herbs are the right choice for puffy eyes.
In addition to the great benefits of a cup of tea for your overall health, its various applications make it even more useful! Think twice the next time you head to the bin to throw away the tea leftovers!
